Master’s preparation is aimed at the formation of specialists of a scientific and research nature capable of formulating and solving problems arising in the course of scientific research and pedagogical activity, collecting, processing, analyzing and systematizing scientific and technical information, compiling descriptions of ongoing research, processing and analyzing the results , to present the results of the work done in the form of reports, reviews, reports, abstracts and scientific articles, to solve applied engineering problems azlichnoy thematic focus using GIS – technologies.

Infocomunication enterprises are enterprises of distributed infrastructure. The design, operation and development of such enterprises in modern conditions is impossible without geoinformation technologies. On the other hand, geoinformation systems are a system-forming component in geographic information systems, various situational centers, decision support systems, etc. Four-dimensional stereoterical interactive pictures of the terrain allow for situational modeling of processes and phenomena of point, polygonal and linear objects with a different quality, creating ground, sea and air simulators. For this reason, the profile of the training “Infocommunication technologies and communication systems” is defined as “GIS”, with the introduction of the concept – “Geoinficommunications”.

11.04.02 Information Technologies and Services in Telecommunications

The master’s program covers the development and operation of telecommunication systems of various classes, including multi-channel, cluster, cloud and grid systems, distributed storage and data processing systems, software-configurable network architectures, virtualization of network resources and functions, application of free software platforms to create a broad spectrum of infocommunication services, the principles of building multi-service network infrastructures of a new generation on the basis of modern pr tocols.

Currently, the priority direction of the development of the telecommunications industry is the transition to software-configurable infrastructures that provide a wide range of information and analytical services based on cloud platforms such as: PaaS (Platform as a Service); IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service); SaaS (Software as a Service). The key elements are the technologies of virtualization of network resources and functions, and software-configurable telecommunication networks. In these technologies, freely distributed software is widely used. These technologies will significantly simplify the procedures for managing network infrastructures and reduce the costs of their creation and operation.

11.04.02 Software in infocommunications

The master’s program provides graduates with the opportunity to obtain theoretical and practical skills in the design, creation and implementation of infocommunication systems (IKS) software using modern approaches and advanced IT technologies. The program provides the students with the knowledge and practical experience necessary for building the architecture and design of the ICS software, developing models and methods for solving ICS tasks and their software implementation based on modern platforms, ensuring the safety of the IKS operation, implementing network services, services and administering ICS. The program pays sufficient attention to methods of information management and project management. Students participate in research and applied projects of the department and its partners, in regional and international scientific and technical conferences. Graduates of the program are adapted to working conditions in Russian and foreign IT companies and subsequent possible training in Russian or foreign postgraduate courses.

Infocommunication technologies are a dynamically developing direction with growing demand for qualified specialists all over the world. Specialists with competence for the development of communication infrastructure and specialized software that know modern standards and promising infocommunication technologies are in demand in various fields of activity: science, manufacturing, business, healthcare, education, politics and economics. The master program provides students with the knowledge and practical experience necessary to study the architecture and design of the ICS, the development of algorithms for solving problems and their software implementation based on modern platforms, ensuring the safety of ICS, the implementation of network services, services and administration of ICS. 11.04.02 Creation and operation of networks and communication systems

The master prepares for scientific research, scientific and innovative activities, for pedagogical work, and for organizational and managerial activities. Specific types of professional activity are determined by the direction of preparation, as well as courses of choice from the training curriculum. Common to the direction of training are the following types of professional activity: the study and analysis of scientific and technical information; generalization of domestic and foreign experience in the field of research, development of new research methods, obtaining practical skills in the design, construction and operation of communication systems and objects.
The main emphasis in training students is on teaching the basics of building and operating systems, networks and wireless technologies. In the process of training, modern and promising technologies of cellular communication (GSM, UMTS, LTE), television and radio broadcasting (DVB-T / H, DRM), satellite communications and navigation (GLONASS, GPS) and specialized communication technologies are studied. In the training of specialists, special attention is paid to services in wireless communication networks: mobile television, mobile Internet, IP-telephony, etc.

The training of specialists is aimed at studying the general principles and features of the implementation of procedures for the design, construction and commissioning of Svyaz’s facilities and networks in any regions of the Russian Federation.
The teaching staff of the department has more than ten years of experience in the design, construction and operation of telecommunication systems, networks and structures, including systems, networks and facilities for wireline and radio communication and data transmission. The implementation of research works is devoted to the most pressing issues in the field of communication – the application and compatibility of systems and networks of various technologies, the management of complex networks and communication and security systems.

The analysis of acting master’s programs in the leading universities of the country (SPb GUT named after Prof. MA Bonch-Bruevich, MTUCI, RGRTU, etc.), which train specialists for the “Svyaz” branch, showed that the proposed educational program for the Master’s level is unique. Within the framework of the ITMO University, the program is the only one for training specialists on such a basic section of the field of information and communication technologies as communication systems and data transmission networks.

11.04.02 Mathematical Physics and Information Theory

The program is implemented at the basic master’s department “Mathematical Physics and Information Theory”, established in September 2015 on the basis of the Steklov Institute of Mathematics. V.A. Steklov Institute of RAS. Employees of the department are specialists of international level in the field of quantum computing, computational mathematics and information theory. The peculiarity of the program is that the basic enterprise is an organization of a scientific type, accordingly, the main attention in this program is paid to the formation of competences of scientific research activity.

The program is aimed at training specialists of international level in the field of mathematical physics and information theory, as well as conducting research in these scientific fields. Much attention is paid to training specialists in such a promising field of scientific research as quantum computing. Employees of the department work on a large number of studies, and undergraduates will be able to join already existing, well-funded projects, or to implement their own -personal approach to teaching is welcomed. During the training, the undergraduates of the program will have the opportunity to interact with leading scientists from the University of Brunel and the Imperial College of London (UK), the University of California at Berkeley (USA) and other partner organizations. Students will also be able to participate in international projects, which helps to form competencies in research and development, the ability to use a foreign language in a professional field.
